The title of the book that I read is, “iRobot,” which was written by the author Isaac Isamov. The things that I really liked about this book is the fact that it combines science fiction along with a little bit of romance between the Chicago detective Del Spooner, and Susan Calvin Who works with the U.S. Robotics company. The science fiction of this book comes from the general theme of the book, which is a futuristic theme in which it is common to see robots aiding humans in their day-to-day life. The only thing that I didn't like about this book is the fact that it is all based around the murder of doctor Lanning which played a huge part in the robotics company. I would recommend this book to all of my peers, but especially to those of my peers that really don't like to read that much. The reason for that is because from the very beginning of this book there is action, so even those that aren't great readers will still find this book interesting. Something that is so unique about this book definitely has to be the setting of the book iRobot. The story takes place in the future year of 2035, in the city of Chicago where it's common to see a robot helping an old lady go shopping. In this setting there have been many generations/versions of robots so as you can tell the setting of this story is ever-advancing in technology. Due to the setting of the story the story is greatly enhanced because if the story were to take place during the eighties, it wouldn't be believable at all. But because it takes places in the year 2035, it still seems as though it may be a possibility. Throughout the entire novel the author definitely emphasizes on the general idea that the future will surely be a bleak one, if man continues to rely so much on machines. The entire story shows just what one of the serious consequences of relying too much on technology can be. As you read the story you can see that the author is trying to get the message across that it is not a good thing to allow ourselves to become so reliant on modern day technologies. The other message that the author is trying to get across to the mind of the reader is the fact that man will always triumph over machine no matter how powerful the machine may be. The events in this book show the authors world view as a bleak one. He thinks this because as far as he's concerned, we are all letting technology take over our daily lives. The characters in the books are very realistic, and believable because they have some very large flaws in them. For example, the main character Del Spooner has a genuine hate for most technologies, and his curiosity is definitely his Achilles heel, and gets him into real trouble with the law, and with the robotics company.

Prey

This book entitled, “Prey”, was written by the author called Micheal Crichton. This book was definitely one of the best books that I have ever read. I enjoyed it so much because it combined the emotions, and struggles of marriage, and family life with adventure, and danger. The marriage struggles that the book brought out were the struggles of Julia choosing between her family, and her job. There is another struggle because as far as Jack is concerned, his wife Julia is cheating on him with someone from work. The danger that I found so thrilling in this book came from the fact that the whole story is based on survival due to a lethal particle sized predator that was let loose from a Nevada laboratory. Also due to the idea of survival that is so prevailing in the book, there is a load of adventure as well. There was definitely nothing that I didn't like about this book. The only thing that was questionable for me was the fact that two main characters died at the end of the book. I would definitely recommend this book to my peers. I recommend this book especially to those that are real- life adventure lovers. The setting of the book is what really made the story unique. For example during the first half of the story, Jack (The main character) is left at home without a job, even though he has a college education in computer technologies, this is most likely to happen in silicon valley where the first half of the story actually takes place. For the second half of the story, the setting is in the Xeon Technologies laboratory in middle of the Nevada desert. If it weren't to be for that Unique setting, the story wouldn't have really worked out. The characters from the story definitely seem real, and believable because each, and every one of them has an every day personality, as well as their own personal problems. Each characters' problems include marital, family, attitude, and emotional problems. These are the reasons why the characters are so believable because of the broadness of their problems. I myself really can't relate to the characters' predicaments because I've never been married, and because my family really doesn't have very many family problems. The main character reminds me of myself to a certain extent only because he doesn't question authority the same way that I wouldn't dare to. The events in this book reveal evidence of the author's world view because through out the entire book the author continues to refer to multiple scientific theories, and possible scientific ideas. Due to him referring to all these scientific theories, one can conclude that the author views the world through very scientific, and theoretical eyes. The events that occur through out the book also show that the author thinks of this world as a world where anything can be made possible with the power of science, and man.

The Green Mile

The title of this book is “ The Green Mile” the name of the author that wrote this book is called Stephan King. I love this book because it really allows the average American to see what it would be like be be set on death row, and this also allows people to see the trials that a person on death row would endure. This book really hits the core emotions that some of the prisoners on death row in “The Green Mile” felt during their stay at prison as they awaited their execution. Some of the emotions that they felt was fear, love for their family, and just plain anger at the fact that they ended up on death row. Another reason that I love this book so much is because it teaches the valuable lesson that we should not judge people based upon how they look, or appear. I would definitely recommend this book to any one of my class mates that are interested in learning a little more about the human nature, and what it really means to be a human. Another reason that I would recommend this book to one of my fellow class mates is because it would help them to better appreciate what they have in life such as family, love, and freedom to do what they want. I would also recommend this book to my classmates because it breaks thru any racial barriers. Something that was unique about the setting of the story is the fact that it takes place in a state penitentiary, which the majority of us have not ever been in. This penitentiary is most definitely a place of hopelessness, and grief, yet to the workers, this penitentiary was like a home to them. Something else that is unique about the story is the fact that it takes place in an imaginary location called, “Cold Mountain”. The characters in this story are definitely believable because of the fact that each, and every one of them have their own personalities, problems, and strengths. For example the main character works in the penitentiary, and he likes his job because he is given the opportunity comfort the prisoners before they are executed. Another example of a believable character is the character called John Cofee. He was accused of raping, and killing a little girl and because of that accusation, and the fact that he is black, he was sentenced to execution. All in all this was just an awesome book that really touched my heart, and taught me a lesson.

Jurassic Park

The title of this book is " Jurassic Park" it was written by the author Micheal Crichton. What I liked so much about this book is simply the fact that it is not just adventurous, but it is also educational as well. It is adventurous because of all the events, and action that happens throughout the entire story, including many dinosaur encounters. This book is just jam packed with information as it explains many theories of paleontology. This book also explains the method that could one day be used to bring dinosaurs back into existence in great detail. There was definitely nothing that I didn't like about this book. It was just fantastic. I would most definitely recommend this book to my peers, especially to those who are interested in scientific theories. The setting of the story is unique because it included multiple locations, and because of the fact that there is no such place as an island off the coast of Costa Rica that has a dinosaur theme park. The setting of the story “Jurassic Park” definitely enhances the story. The original setting of the story was in a beach along the coast of Costa Rica. Then the story lead to a fossil dig site in hell valley Colorado. And as the story progressed, it returned to the setting of Costa Rica. But this time it was not along the coastal beaches, but in the the island park of Jurassic Park. This is a tropical island with prehistoric creatures as inhabitants. The theme that is most pronounced through the entire book is the theme of endless possibilities, and endless discoveries. The theme of endless possibilities is proved true with the idea that dinosaurs could exist again. I think that the idea that the author is trying to get across to the reader is the idea that virtually anything is possible with science, even bringing dinosaurs back out of their 65 million year extinction. The next theme that the author is trying to get across to the reader is the idea that the world is still full of undiscovered things, and that all things should be explored both in science and on the earth. The characters in the story definitely change throughout the entire plot of thew story. The characters go from being every day people to being rough, and rugged survivors. The reason for this change throughout the plot of the story is because of the change in circumstances. At the beginning of the story the characters were at their place of work, yet as the story progresses the characters find themselves in situations where they need to fight, or run in order to survive. The book Jurassic park is filled with times like these, and due to these situations the characters become tougher, and are able to endure more. These characters seem very believable because each, and every one of them have their own strengths, and weaknesses. For example Allan Grant is a great survivor, yet he would make a terrible father. All in all this was an excellent book.

Earagon

There are many things that I loved about this book. One of the things that appealed to me the most about this story was that fact that there was such a close friendship between man, and beast. Even if the beast is a dragon. Either way that kind of friendship has such a strong appeal to me that I've Thought above animal/ human friendships since I was very young. Another thing that I loved about this book is the raw adventure that it is full of. The things that I truly hated about this book is the massive factor of magic. Magic was greatly used through out the entire story, and it was used to kill, or hurt others, which really made me question whether I should read the book at all. The other thing that I didn't like about this book is the massive amount if intense violence. I would definitely recommend this book to my peers though. The reason that I would recommend this book to my peers is because of all the adventure that permeates it. As well as its dramatic story line. The last reason that I would recommend this book to my peers is because of the fact that not everyone feels the same way that I do about violence, so it probably wouldn't matter to them. Something that is unique about the setting of the story is the fact that it takes place in an imaginary land of Dwarfs, Elves, and Dragons. Through out the whole of Alagasia there are many different biomes, and climates. The book comes with a map on the inside cover which shows all parts of the setting of this story. It shows Earagons' home village along the west coast with the spine mountain range to the east of the village. It also shows the desert which Earagon, and Brom traversed. Lastly the Beor mountain range with Farthen dur at it's center. Above the geographic features that make the setting unique is the fact that the most of it is still unexplored. The events in the books reveal evidence of the author's world view by the way that the author depicts the journey of Earagon,Brom, and Saphira. He makes it seem as though no matter the size of land it can be traversed easily atop a dragons back. The author also makes it seem as thought the whole world can be conquered. He did this by allowing Earagon, and Brom to defeat each of the soldiers in each village that they run into. After they defeat some soldiers in each village, the villagers go on Earagons' side of the war. By doing that he does make seem as though anythings possible even conquering the world.

AIRBORN

There were many things that I truly loved about this book. For example I loved the type of life that the main character chose to live. A life of constant travel, where the sky is the limit. A life where you can venture to any continent anywhere on earth that you would like, and you would be getting paid for it. This factor of raw adventure is something that appealed to me the most from all the other factors from within the story. The only thing that I didn't like about the story was the fact that multiple people had died through out the story. Some of those that had died were passengers an board the ship, and pirates. I would most definitely recommend this book to any one of my peers. I would recommend this book to my peers so willingly because of the fact that it is full of adventure, and with all that adventure comes the opportunity for you to use your imagination to a great degree that you may not have taken it to before. The book is so good for the imagination because it gives the reader great detail into the stories environments, and characters. With all this great detail given it makes it easy for even the least imaginative person to draw a lively picture in their own minds' eye. Something that made the setting of “AIRBORN” quite unique is the fact that the majority of the story takes place within an airship called the “AURORA” far above the ground. This “airship” from which the story takes place is a massive zeppelin constructed of alumiron which is as strong as iron, but as light as aluminum. Its' weight is held up by sacs filled with a gas called Hydrium which is lighter than helium, and hydrogen. The dimensions of this vessel are 540 ft in length, and a 100 ft diameter. The rest of the story takes place on an island in the middle of the pacific ocean. This island has a tropical climate, and is inhabited by a unique variety of wildlife such as parrots, and macaws, as well as leaping snakes. The island also has flying creatures on it that are half cat, and half bird. For those reasons the setting in this book are unique. The events in the book reveals evidence of the author's world view in the ways that he describes the earth. He makes it seem as though the world is nothing more than a bunch of cities and continents that can easily be traveled. He makes the world seem as such a small place. The author also seems to make the earth below as some place that is impossible to live in. He makes it seem as though his whole world revolves around the skies, and the air ship “AURORA”. The author also makes the world seem as though it still holds many discoveries that have yet to been found by people.
